Broward College and Lingua Language Center: Partners in Language Education

During the December 11th, 2012, Broward College Board of Trustees meeting, it was resolved that Broward College and Lingua Language Center would consolidate their partnership to offer Lingua’s language programs at the College.

This is a very exciting time in the history of Lingua, a government-certified, minority, woman-owned small business, founded in Broward County in 1998. After a long journey developing its Intensive English Program (IEP) and having it certified under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students, Lingua’s 2012 strategic plan included a partnership with a prestigious higher education organization interested in a positive relationship with a certified language school.

Enjoying a decade-long relationship with Broward College that has served as the vehicle to providing outstanding language training to corporations and government organizations, such as Tri-Rail, Broward Health, Perris Ellis International, Carnival Cruise Line, among others, it was natural for Lingua to seek the support of Broward College, ranked among the Top 10 Community Colleges in the Nation by The Aspen Institute. As an aggregate benefit for the College, many students will be interested in pursuing a degree program after graduating from the language institute.

The two entities will operate as one under the name of Lingua Global Language Institute at Broward College. As a first step, the entities have defined the scope of language programs that will be offered to include the IEP, corporate and customized programs. Simultaneously, an international marketing campaign is being developed to promote Lingua’s unique language programs throughout international markets. As part of the academic program, international students will be offered support with additional services, including housing, transportation, health insurance, and cultural and recreational field trips throughout the Fort Lauderdale area. enthusiastically look forward to the continued success of this partnership.
